  • Captain Modesto Silverio enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1974. Following recruit training at MCRD Parris Island he attended the Motor Transport School at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Upon completion of Motor Transport School he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 10th Marines, 2nd Marine division. While stationed there he attended the Noncommissioned Officers School and graduated as the Honor Graduate of his class. Upon completion of NCO School he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In 1976 he was transferred to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune for duty with the NCO Leadership School as an instructor.
  • In 1977 he was transferred to Truck Company, 3rd Direct Support Group 3rd Marine Division Okinawa, Japan for duty as Motor Transport Section Leader. In 1978, Sergeant Silverio returned from Japan and assumed duties as the Motor Transport Leader for Headquarters and Service Company, Officers Candidate School, Quantico, Virginia. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1979. While stationed at Quantico, he attended the Motor Transport Staff NCO Maintenance Leadership Course at Marine Corps Service Support Schools, Camp Lejeune North Carolina and graduated number one in his class.
  • In January of 1981, he reported to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California for assignment as the Battalion’s Motor Transport Maintenance Chief. In October 1981 he graduated from the Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, as an Honor Graduate. In January 1983, Staff Sergeant Silverio assumed duties as Motor Transport Maintenance Chief in the 1st Marine Division and became a member of the Supply/Maintenance Assistance Team Analysis within the Division.
  • In 1985 he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science and was accepted into the Warrant Officer Program. He reported to The Basic School in February of 1986. Upon graduation from The Basic School he reported to the 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st FSS G for duty as a Maintenance Management Officer. In May of 1989 he was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant. In July of 1989 he returned to Okinawa, Japan for duty with the 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd FSSG again as a Maintenance Management Officer.
  • With the onset of Operation Desert Shield, First Lieutenant Silverio deployed to Saudi Arabia with Combat Service Support Detachment-31 (CSSD-31) in the capacity as Detachment Maintenance Management Officer. During the Gulf War CSSD-31 reinforced the 7th Motor Transport Battalion, operating from Al Jabayl, Al Mishab and Al Kibrit Logistics Support Bases. In 1991 Lieutenant Silverio was designated as a Traffic Management Officer. Upon his return home from Okinawa, he attended the Navy’s Physical Distribution Management Course in Oakland, California. He ws promoted to the rank of Captain in December of 1992. In 1993, Captain Silverio reported to Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Georgia and assumed the duties as Branch Head, Personal Property/Passenger Transportation Branch, Base Support Division.
  • He retired from the United States Marine Corps December 1994. During January 1995 he stared a new USMC Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in Emerson High School in Union City, New Jersey. He earned his Master of Arts degree in Urban Education from the New Jersey City University during 2002. Captain Silverio held the Senior Marine Instru ctor position for 12.6 years. November 2007 he became the Senior Marine Instructor at Glynn Academy High School Brunswick, GA. August 2008 he reported to Parkview High School for duties as the Senior Marine Instructor for the Marine Corps JROTC Program.
  • Captain Silverio and his wife Maria Trinidad have two sons, Francisco and Nelson and a daughter, Belinda.
