MUSIC ON MAIN - On September 8, 2007, our cadets worked very hard and earned many compliments for their hard work. They provided services with setting up,
taking down and security and parking assistance for the entire event. On October 8, 2007 the Lilburn City Council presented a
Commendation to LtCol. Denis G. Carruth and the PHS MCJROTC Cadets for support of the Music on Main Event. TOYS FOR TOTS 2006 The Parkview High School MCJROTC, with the support of our Principal Dr. Charles Buchanan, established Parkview HS as a collection point for Toys for Tots. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the cadets $7,000 in cash donations were collected and approximately 1,000 toys. The cadets who helped collect donations and toys were allowed to go shopping for toys with the cash donations. 22 cadets split up between the Wal-mart on Rockbridge Road which provided a generous $1,000 grant and the Wal-mart on Hwy 29 which donated 5 bicycles. Each group was given $3,500 to spend. Their purchases were collected by a truck provided by Sunrise Moving and delivered to the Toys For Tots collection warehouse in Grayson. FEED THE VETERANS AT THE VA NURSING HOME - NOVEMBER 11, 2006. Our third annual "Feed the Veterans" at the VA Nursing Center on Clairemont Road was a tremendous success. The cadets served meals to our honored veterans; but, more importantly, spent time visiting with them. This is a special day for these veterans and one they look forward to each year - young Cadets visiting with them and bringing B-B-Q. Thank you once again to Sonny's BBQ on Chesire Bridge Road for donating the food. Volunteering to assist the Wal-mart employees who planned the event to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network, the cadets worked tirelessly to make the event fun for the kids. Many of the special guests including Clay Cox, our district representative, and Jack Bolton, mayor of Lilburn, were impressed with the conduct and leadership skills exhibited by the cadets. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - This was a great experience for all involved. Although it was quite chilly Saturday and a bit wet outside, the cadets really enjoyed working on the Habitat house. This was a community service event that all the cadets want to do again. HELPING HURRICANE KATRINA VICTIMS...Over Labor Day weekend approximately 28 cadets, several parents and a few other students from other groups at Parkview showed up at car washes held at Chick-Fil-A on Saturday and Monday. Some of them worked both days! They raised $2,848,00 which will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. We appreciate the efforts of all those who chose to give up their holiday weekend to help others. You are just amazing - be proud!! ![]() COLOR GUARD PRESENTATION On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2006, the Parkview MCJROTC Color Guard participated in the Grand Opening Ceremonies for the Veterans War Museum that is located in the old Lawrenceville courthouse. This was a great event for all involved. The cadets served food and provided companionship to approximately 100 Veterans at the VA Nursing Home. Their gesture not only shows their support for our aging veterans, but it shows support for the MCJROTC. MOUNTAIN PARK PARK CLEANUP.
